Exhibit aimed at raising awareness for
woodland caribou by Alisen Charlten Digital Time Machine Inc. (DTM) is looking for submissions from artists for an exhibition entitled Tuktu (Inuit for caribou) Prayers that will begin touring Canada in 2007. The traveling exhibit will consist of 100 pieces that will eventually tour across Canada starting in the east and ending up in Jasper on Sept. 14, 2007 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the park. Organizers are looking for artist representations of woodland caribou in both 2D and 3D formats. Two-dimensional pieces should not exceed 50 total inches such as a 25x25 canvas and sculpture pieces should be a maximum of nine cubic feet. All mediums are welcome including photography as long as the above mentioned parameters are followed. Submissions can be made in the form of 4x6 prints or slides labeled with the artist’s name, medium and size of the piece. Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2006. Chosen submissions will be contacted by May 1, 2006 and artists should be prepared to exhibit their work by the fall of 2006 when the cross Canada ‘migration’ will begin. According to project organizer Marianne Garrah, musician Bruce Cockburn has been approached and artist Robert Bateman has also been asked if he will contribute. Garrah hopes the plight of the woodland caribou will be communicated across Canada through this project. |
